Ride in 3D · last updated 1 November 2026
Ride in 3D lets a group of riders share a ride: the route on a 3D map, their photos, and emergency information. It is run by Mark Freebs (info@markfreebs.com), who is responsible for your information under South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
What we keep
- Your account: your email address, the name you choose, and, if you sign in with Google, the name Google shares. We never see your Google password.
- Rides you join: which rides you are on, and whether you organise them.
- Photos you add: a resized copy of each photo, with the time and place it was taken (from the photo itself, or worked out from the ride).
- Routes: GPX files the ride’s organiser adds.
- Emergency card, only if you choose to share it with a ride: your emergency contacts and any medical details you enter (such as blood type, allergies or medication). Medical details are sensitive information, and you decide whether to share them.
- Group kit lists and who is bringing what.
Who can see it
- Anyone with a ride’s link can see the route, the photos and the names of the riders on it. Share ride links only with people you’re happy to show the ride to.
- Emergency cards are visible only to signed-in riders on that same ride. They are also kept on those riders’ phones, so they can be read without signal.
- The ride’s organiser can remove riders and photos from their ride.
- We don’t sell your information or use it for advertising.
Where it’s stored
Ride data is stored with Supabase, a hosted database service. The app itself is served by Cloudflare. Sign-in emails are sent through Brevo. Your phone also keeps copies of rides you open, so they work without signal.
Your choices
- You can delete your own photos and your emergency card at any time in the app.
- To get a copy of your information, or to have your account and everything you added deleted, email info@markfreebs.com. We’ll do it within 30 days.
- You can complain to South Africa’s Information Regulator if you think we’ve handled your information wrongly.
Safety
Ride in 3D is not a navigation or emergency service. It can’t call for help, and emergency cards only help if someone reads them. Always ride with your own navigation and a way to call for help.
